FAQ’s
1. How do you define antisocial behaviour?
‘Antisocial behaviour is any behaviour likely to cause alarm, harassment or distress to members of the public not of the same household as the perpetrator’.
Anti-social behaviour is virtually any intimidating or threatening activity that scares you or damages your quality of life.
Examples include:
- rowdy, noisy behaviour
- ‘yobbish’ behaviour
- vandalism, graffiti and fly-posting
- dealing or buying drugs on the street
- fly-tipping rubbish
- aggressive begging
- street drinking
- setting off fireworks late at night
Anti-social behaviour doesn’t just make life unpleasant. It holds back the regeneration of disadvantaged areas and creates an environment where more serious crime can take hold.
It has a negative effect on many people’s lives, and we are committed to tackling it.

2. How much will your services cost?
The cost really depends on the package and services you wish to engage and the timescale involved in any delivery. We are very happy to discuss this with you during our free consultation.
3. Are you just going to make us put up lots of fences?
No. Salvus applies ARC – Appropriate, Realistic and Cost Effective values to our work. In some cases a particular type and quality of fence may be appropriate, but it is much more effective to combine a number of approaches to achieve long term, sustainable solutions.
4. How much money can you save us?
By considering the factors that cause antisocial behaviour and crime it is possible to plan and implement measures that are fit for purpose and that are effective in reducing the likelihood of damage to property, the number of times you have to repair property and the time wasted by personnel caught up in ‘fire-fighting.’ We can also help you reduce your carbon footprint.
5. How do I contact you?
Just call us on the number provided on our website or e-mail us via the contact section. We will be happy to arrange a meeting at your convenience.
6. What is Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED)?
CPTED is a strategy used for limiting opportunity for crime within or around the built environment. In addition to advising on physical changes to the built environment that can deter crime and antisocial behaviour, consideration is given to defensible space, access, crime and movement generators all of which can contribute to a reduction in crime and disorder.
It should be noted that it is unwise to use CPTED as a panacea for crime but should be used as a complementary tool in a package of area specific measures that could include, for example, educational programmes and effective partnership working.
7. What is Secured By Design (SBD)?
Secured By Design is a UK branding created by ACPO (Association of Chief Police Officers). This certification/branding offers you reassurance that the quality of security standards of doors, fences, locks, windows is such that they can withstand a higher level of abuse or attack than is provided by general security standard tests. Research demonstrates that SBD can reduce burglary and car crime by 50% and criminal damage by 25%.
The Secured By Design Logo is only permitted on products that have passed the higher standards tested by ACPO CPI0.
